The Limp Richerds belongs to the pre-grunge scene from Seattle in 80s. The band played a hard rock mixed with an important amount of punk rock chords. It was formed in late 1981 and dissapeared in 1987.
Do not expect a common band, the blunt music explodes in our ears fading each sound, according to a Matt Cameron's (drummer of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam) statement "The Limp Richerds were pretty bad, but they were trying to be bad."
The founders of The Limp Richerds were:- Dave Middleton, vocals
- Charles Quain , guitar
- Greg Billings, bass
- Ross Guffy, drums
They took the punk rock to the a different dimesion and then destroyed and built up another thing, their music.
Ross Guffy made a proposal to Dave Middleton to take some friend's stuff and record tracks, they went and joined Charles Quain and Greg Billings. That was how they became a band.
At that time, there was a local radio show in Seattle calles Krab, there used to sound bands like Mr.Epp and the Calculation, The Fartz, Husker Du or Solger. Stephen Rabow had radio show on Krab and received a tape from Ross Guffy, then he decided to promote The Limp Richerds on his show, even he asked them to appear on it, therefore the band accepted.
Their first performance was at Highline Community College inSeatlle, there played their songs, most of Limp Richerds stuff is homemade music.
The Limp Richerds released a cassette on December 15, 1984 over Deus Ex Machina Records and Tapes.
The lineup has been changed a lot, Scott Schikler played the guitar, Mark Arm was on drums and Werner Cooke was the bassist. Just Dave Middleton remained.
More musicians took part of The Limp Richerds, Steve Turner as guitarist, Scott Warner as bassist and Bill Connell as drummer.
They split in 1987.
