The Melvins part 4




Tenth Melvins album, The Maggot
The tenth studio album of The Melvins was "The Maggot". The band had signed with Ipecac Records and this company released the album on May 17, 1999.

The Maggot is the first part of a trilogy along with "The Bootlicker" and "The Crybaby".

The band produced the album with Tim Green. The new basssist was Kevin Rutmanis, who replaced Mark Deutrom. Rutmanis was playing previously in The Cows.








Eleveth Melvins album, The Bootlicker

The second part of the trilogy and the album number eleven was called "The Bootlicker", released on August 23, 1999 through Ipecac Records.

Like the previous album, the band and Tim Green worked on the production.

It was considered less raw and sludge than The Maggot. Anyway the band showed another face of its creativity.






Twelfth Melvins album, The Crybaby
The twelfth album from The Melvins was "The Crybaby", it was released on Februay 7, 2000 through Ipepac Records.

It closed the trilogy with the last two albums.

Tool was present on it, thus in the song "Divorsed" Tool played with The Melvins. This is another example that shows the great relationships between both bands.

It included a Smells Like Teen Spirit cover




The three last albums were collected and released together on the compilation "The Trilogy Vinyl".

Thirteenth Melvins album, Electroretard

The Melvins released "Electroretard" through Man's Ruin Records on February 6, 2001.

Tim Green and Joe Barresi were the producers.

 Mark Deutrom played the bass guitar in songs "Shit Storm", "Tipping the Lion" and "Interstellar Overdrive".

Electroretard does not contain new songs but most of the tracks are old tracks recorded again and covers.






Fourteenth Melvins album. Hostile Ambient Takeover

With Kevin Rutmanis in the lineup yet, the next album released was "Hostile Ambient Takeover". Ipepac Records released it on April 15, 2002.

The producer was Toshi Kasai.

A limited number singles were included for each song of this album, most of this singles were covers.

Following albums were a some kind of teamwork with other bands and musicians.
